Child Safeguarding Statement
Some resources and activities may prompt a child to remember and potentially share an experience of harm. Make sure you’re familiar with your school's safeguarding policies and procedures so you can confidently report safety and well-being concerns.
Prepare students for the session by discussing: their right to be safe and respected; what to do if discussing online safety makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe; and how to seek help if they feel or have felt unsafe. Use this resource available on the website.

Concluding discussion
Choose one of the following options to close out the program, and encourage learners to reflect on what they have learned.
Option 1: It’s good to know you better!
Reflect on the activities that learners love doing online, and all the things they have learned about each other throughout the course of the program. Ask them to come up with one thing they would like to try doing online, and one rule for how they are intending to keep themselves and others safe while they do it.
Option 2: Level up with an online safety pledge
Conduct a class discussion that sets out what it means to be a positive digital citizen.
Conclude with an "Online Safety Pledge" where each learner signs or stamps the eSmart Digital Licence class poster, and if appropriate, writes the online safety rules on it that they think are most important.
Option 3: Goal success showcase
If learners completed the collaborative goal-setting activity in the introduction to the program, ask them to reflect on these goals to find out what they would add to or change now that the program has been completed. If they did not complete these goals at the outset, they can discuss or write about the goals they have for becoming the best possible positive digital citizens they can be.
Celebrate their progress with a "Goal Achievement Showcase," where each learner receives a special acknowledgement for their efforts in becoming a better online explorer.
